Discover Sprookjeshof Zuidlaren, a family-friendly attraction just a 5-minute drive from our holiday park. At this family-friendly theme park for year round fun, children up to 10 years old can enjoy the fairytale forest, an indoor play paradise, a petting zoo and other activities. We can also definitely recommend Drouwenerzand Amusement Park. There’s something for everyone here, regardless of age, with the added bonus of food and drinks included in the entrance price. A visit to WILDLANDS Adventure Zoo in Emmen is also an absolute must! Come face-to-face with exotic animals, take a boat trip through the jungle, board a safari truck or admire the magnificent polar bears in the polar region.

Do you fancy a day of swimming? Just 7 minutes' drive from our holiday park is the subtropical water park Aqualaren. Besides a competition pool and leisure pool, the water park also boasts a 30-metre slide, a rapid with jet streams and a number of water jets with water that shoots up and shoots out from the walls. There is also a children's pool with children's slide and a hot whirlpool garden. You will also find a paddling pool outside and a terrace where you can relax in summer.

Our holiday park also has everything you need for a great time. For example, you can hire a boat to spend a day sailing towards Groningen or learn sailing and surfing at the Zuidlaardermeer watersports centre. There are also several sports facilities, such as tennis, basketball and volleyball, as well as a mini-golf course where you can play with family and friends.

A day trip to Groningen or Assen

A day trip to Groningen or Assen is a must during your holiday here. Both towns are about 20 kilometres from the park. Why not climb the 311 steps of Groningen's famous Martini Tower for a panoramic view of the city or discover the many museums located here. Shopaholics will also enjoy Groningen's boutiques, trendy stores and artisan shops. In Assen, you will find a mix of culture, history and conviviality. Walk through Drents Museum where you can see archaeological finds, art and exhibitions. Or admire the distinctive buildings in the city centre. Are you a motorsports fan? Then a tour at TT Circuit Assen is a must!

One of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands is just a 10-minute drive from Summio Waterpark De Bloemert. Explore amazing streams, forests and moors with fens in n the protected National Park Drentsche Aa. National Park Drentsche Aa is a beautiful walking and cycling area, with various stops at several sand lakes and beaches. It is the best-preserved landscape full of brooks and small villages where time stands still in Western Europe!

The Noordlaarder forest is within 10 minutes reach by bike from our park. The peaceful countryside offers plenty of opportunities for enjoying hiking and cycling in the peaceful countryside. Tip: follow the route via 'Weg langs het Hunebed' if you visit the Noordlaarder forest. Along the way, you will be surprised to find a beautiful single-chamber megalithic tomb hidden among the trees.

Westerbork Memorial Centre

Westerbork Memorial Centre

If you want to learn more about the history of World War II, a visit to Camp Westerbork should not be missed. This memorial centre is located in the middle of Drenthe, half an hour's drive from our holiday park, and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During World War II, Jews were held in this refugee camp. Now, reminders from that time are still visible. A museum and exhibitions tell more about the history of Camp Westerbork. Tours are regularly given during school holidays and on 4 May.

UNESCO Geopark De Hondsrug

UNESCO Geopark De Hondsrug

Explore the impressive landscapes in Geopark De Hondsrug that were formed during the Ice Age. The history of the Hondsrug goes back more than 150,000 years when there were giant ice masses and hairy mammoths roamed the plains. This elongated ridge is no less than 70 kilometres long and the only UNESCO Global Park in the Netherlands. The Hondsrug area is half an hour's drive from the holiday park and is perfect for a day of hiking or cycling through the extraordinary natural beauty of this landscape. If you go on holiday to Drenthe, the Hunebed Centre in Borger should not be missed. You'll find this fascinating centre half an hour away. Step back in time and discover the extraordinary world of the builders of megalithic burial monuments (the so-called hunebedden) and the imposing hunebeds that are more than 5,000 years old. Did you know that these are the oldest stone monuments in the Netherlands? You can also admire archaeological finds and attend interactive exhibitions here. Come face-to-face with the hunebed builders and learn more about what rituals the hunebed builders performed. It’s a unique and educational experience.

Are you looking for an active way to explore nature? Then look no further than Klimpark Outdoor Grolloo and Boomkroonpad. The adventure climbing park Outdoor Grolloo offers a challenging experience for young and old. Test your skills on the various courses with a total course length of 725 metres, where you can climb and zipline between the treetops. Another must is the nature-rich Boomkroonpad, with its walkway among the high treetops at a height of no less than 22.5 metres. Follow the elevated walkways, admire the beautiful views, listen to the soothing sounds of nature and learn more about the flora and fauna of the area. Moreover, you can spot various birds and squirrels here.

A visit to seal centre Pieterburen, about 50 minutes' drive from the holiday park, is a must for young and old. This special centre is entirely dedicated to the care and protection of seals and offers a unique opportunity to see these beautiful animals up close.

In the Hunzedal you can enjoy beautiful landscapes with water, grasslands and reed beds. It is a lovely area for walking and cycling. Want to visit fun events during your stay? Eurosonic Noorderslag is a four-day showcase festival held annually in January in the city of Groningen. At the festival you will enjoy Dutch and foreign artists. Or discover the eleven-day event Noorderzon in the last two weeks of August in Groningen's Noorderplantsoen. What makes Noorderzon unique is the combination of an international art festival and a cosy summer festival. For motorbike fans, the world-famous event TT Circuit Assen is not to be missed. This is Europe's biggest car, motorbike and karting event. Furthermore, you can experience a weekend full of music and art at Grasnapolsky. From 2025 to 2028, Grasnapolsy will take place at Fabriek De Toekomst in Scheemda.
